A Faraway Land

as a child she couldnt understand why this was happening to her,
daddy and mommy always fought,
she had no food for the night,
daddy was no where in sight,
while momma cried on the couch,
she pulled out a pouch,
then popped the pills into her mouth,
she swallowed it down with an ounce of whiskey,
then momma passed out for the night,
daddy came and took mommy away to a "faraway land",
she was sent to bed,
she heard mommy wake and scream,
while daddy lay and say sweet things in her ear,
monday arrives and she realizes its another peaceful getaway,
while she dreads for the time to go to a place called home
