Homecoming 2012

A night among the stars
Pasted above our heads,
We walked along the halls
With absolutely no trace of dread.

We entered the lunchroom,
All perfect and groomed.
We both smiled and laughed while the cameras zoomed.
Together we waited to check our coats as all the others swooned.

We then made way to the dance.
Hand in hand we pranced.
Appalled as we advanced
For the gym was prepared for romance.

We swayed to the beat
For not a soul could take a seat.
The dance being a fantastic treat
With us stepping on each other's feet.

I was lost in you,
And you were focused on me, too.
We were held together by a force stronger than glue,
Leaving me with nothing else that I'd rather do.

We played with our chums.
All of us moved to the sound of the drums.
I did not feel glum;
Although I felt a little dumb.

I felt as if I were soaring!
We were focused and adoring.
The night was very restoring,
With no room for ignoring.

Then the dance ended.
And with the crowds we blended,
Forced to return to our lives we had suspended;
With the memories of a night that was nothing short of splendid.
