New Poem, Another Boy…Another Heart
How could I be so naïve?
How could I not have seen?
I try to paint with makeup
over the scars that imperfect
Painting a clowns sad smile
To replace feelings I wish to neglect
You walk into here carrying
A weight of apologies unspoken
I think back to our love, our hate
Everything that had left my heart so broken
And here you are standing before me
All the words I’ve ever wanted to hear
Spill from you lips into my ears
But I fear they aren’t true, oh I fear
For you’re like a puppet to my wants
You mimic the words you think I want you to
Leaving me in doubt of sincerity because
It’s like you did exactly what I wanted you to do.
PS. the layout for the poem, I like it but you might want to up the opacity behind the text so it's more legible
