World of Stars

Every now and then
As the dawn draws near,
I stare out my window and think
How it would be if the sun vanished for a year.

I gaze at the stars,
As the sky remains dim.
A blanket draped over the world,
Not too think, not too thin.

To be in such a place
Where the world is always spotted bright.
Reach up and grab your diamonds
Shimmering in the night.

A starry sky can say a million words,
More than any story book.
I know they'd understand what I say,
If they'd only look.

We'd teach the children to not be afraid,
That the night is nothing to fear.
Why, it's just like the day,
Though it's a bit more quiet here.

If the sun ever vanished
Across our world and sky,
There would be no reason to worry,
Tears not worth the cry.

We take the things by the light,
For what we presume we are.
But there's a piece of you
Shining in every star.

What's easy by the moon,
Never is as so by the sun.
So live in the night,
By the stars you could run.

I will never fathom
Why they praise the day so.
Though, I live under a world of stars,
So I suppose I'll never know.

I actually quite like this poem.
