I Need to Vote

I need to vote.
Confused of what’s at stake,
Certainly I can’t afford a steak.
I need to vote.
Flooded with perplexed ideas,
We’ve become undecided.
I need to vote.
Twisted truth covering up the lies,
So we don’t trust the parties.
I need to vote.
They claim to have our best interest,
So we vote for our self-interest,
Just to find our loyalty distrusted.
I need to vote.
I need to vote,
Not only for the purpose:
Becoming a good character,
Forming virtue and realizing the good life.
But to honor the privilege.
Because just years ago, I couldn’t vote.
