Troll Shadow

The shadow at my feet
Has been altered
Since I last checked.

Her shoulders
Now slumped,
Her head
Raised in mock confidence,

The colors of her heart
Now darkened,
Her attitude nasty,
Irritable, and lazy.

How would one fix this troll of a shadow?

I would punch her
In the face,
Once more in the gut,
Then I’d break her bottle
She uses to hide her feelings.

Then she’d collapse,
Curl in a ball and cry.
I’d wrap my arms around her
And lend her my shoulder,
Help her to her feet and start over again.
