Kill(ing)

Rain doused my bowed, mourning head
And a droplet that went astray managed
To sprinkle down the track of my vertebrae
Remnants of the same death that kissed
Your pursed lips drenched my black
Funeral clothes, and I swore it was attempting
To kill me too

Light from the stars cast a shadow on
The tombstone, where vacant eyes rested
below the fresh mound of dirt
I noticed your smile etched into the constellations
It portrayed the faint lines in your delicate face as
They replayed our prior laughs on the luminous screen
But their lights flickered and you went away once again
To that distant place, and took part of me too

I felt the throb of your previous sufferings
As a dull ache in my fragile bones and it
Spread throughout my skeleton
Reminding me of you
It is killing me too
