Without Sleep

With senseless eyes I caught these lies
I wish I knew I had the words
For these things I cannot voice
That rattle within my ribcage
Like the gasp of the terminally ailed.
There are no directions
Through the underbrush
I’m just stumbling through
This hole in my head and
Everything is leaking out
Before I can catch it.
The lights we find so late at night
Bring us within inches of insomnia
It won’t be long now
We are mere hours away from the sun
Breaking the horizon.
Gone like fever now that day has begun
There are simply never enough hours for rest.
