Black Feather, Dear Angel

Pale wings of downy white feathers,
Surround her body in a grace unknown,
Blue eyes sparkle in amusement,
As her halo glows endlessly,
That no one notices the one black feather,
Wedged between all the others,
Darkness lies in angels too,
Nobody's perfect.

Don't expect her to open her wings wide,
To embrace the world in a flurry of beauty,
So that people can realize,
And see through the eyes God's given them,
Instead of just looking,
We have to learn it ourselves,
And her black feather floats to us in disgust.
