Possessed

and the sun are barely sticking inside
this room
gleaming over your body possessed
your eyelids flickering like a roman candle lit up

now on fire
burning up

resurrected along the east coast
to the vintage car
driving out of gasoline in this sobering
winter

it's draining out
as water ripped down from the bathtub
at three in the morning
while the stars are still beating a pumping heart alive

you are reading books
once again
memorizing phrases and lonely covered words
wearing letter as drapes

breathing again your lungs
exploding gracefully around the circus
of your own
every breath looking as smoke in the early freezing cold

covering wrists up with purple sleeves
slicking to your skin
and the blood falls to the bathroom wall
as leaves drop down from their trees
