If You Go, You'll Be Gone

You made another mistake,

I was really hoping you wouldn't make,

but you did all the same.

I looked you in the eye,

and told you I'd had just about enough

of you and your screwed up games.

So what you asked me,

"What am I suppose to do?"

I told you,

"Leave and don't ever come back."

But as you pack your bags and I'm pushing you out my door,

I'm really thinking,

"Oh, pretty please, don't leave me,

because if you go, you'll be gone,

and do you truly believe I really want that?

You think I'd really want that?

Once you go, you'll be gone,

and i'll all be done.

I told you to leave,

but don't you want to fight to keep me?
If you go, you'll be gone

and then what I'll be is . . .

alone."

I thought you'd pick a fight,

to allow yourself to stay

because you told me

that wherever I am

is where you want to be.

But I guess you must have places to go,

and things to see,

and I can imagine how much easier that would be

without me.

Maybe to you,

this was just an open invitation

to finally move on,

but don't you know that,

If you go, you'll be gone,

and do you truly think I'd really want that?

You think I'd really want that?

Once you go, you'll be gone,

and it'll all be over.

I told you to leave,

but oh, pretty please, don't leave,

because if you go, you'll be gone,

and then what I'll be is . . .

alone.

Oh, please, don't you leave me. (Don't you want to keep me?)

Oh, I thought you'd speak up. (Why don't you speak up?)

You could still fight to keep. (I'd give in.)

And then you'd get to stay. (Always stay . . . )

If you just realize,

Once you go, you'll be gone,

and it'll all be finished.

(Please realize) If you go, you'll be gone,

and I really don't want that,

how could I ever want that?

I told you to leave, told you to leave.

But, oh, pretty, pretty, please, don't leave. (Please, don't leave me.)

Because if you go, you'll be gone.

And if you're gone

what I'll be is . . .

alone.
