Another Restless Night

Another night of restless slumber,
As my mind back-flips into another tumbler.
When darkness falls & others sleep,
My mind starts racing not missing a beep.
Thoughts flood in & fill it up,
Filling up fast, all the way to the top.
This is when my mind fights back,
But exhausted from no sleep, keeps it in tact.
The days pass on & they continue to fill my brain,
I'm unable to keep my thoughts maintained.
On the verge of breaking, I reach for the drawer,
Knowing I can't take much more.
I slide it open to find the key,
The key to retrieve my sanity.
Carefully hidden in the back of the drawer,
Are the pills to end this crippling war.
I pick them up, counting one, two, three..
Then I down the entire bottle relieved to be free.
