Shadow

Shadow

Just another shadow
Wallowing in the dark
Standing in the background
As a lackie I follow
Content while the sun feeds me a ray here and there
But when I try to take a step out…
Blinds me and I’m forced to shrink back in the gloom
Until the day I saw him
His smile like a rope
Pulling me out of my damp well of tears
Closer and closer I go
Seeing nothing but his soft eyes
I grasp his hand
The light shining on me
Then he sees
My dark grey skin
Hallow ash eyes
His disgust immense
My body goes numb
As I make my ascendment
Back to the dark
While he walks off into the sun
The shine flows over the land
Only making the dark corners darker
