Silent Screams

Silent screams fill the air you can hear them if you care.
But most do not, so to them the screams aren’t there.
I hear them most every night, brutally loud and clear
Alas silent screams are not heard by those in no pain

Silent screams like ghosts drift through the sky
Watching the ground below as they wave goodbye
In apartment 955 a girl holds a gun loose in her hand
Shaking and crying no one really understands.

In 955 at 10:00 the gun goes off her broken heart never mended
A pain in my chest for the life that was ended.
The silent screams then cease and I am uneasy and chilled
With sadness and mourning I am entirely filled.

A rainy day burial, a few family members, she lies there now,
Soon to be forgotten, her silent screams never remembered, I ask how,
how could you not hear her silent screams of deepest agony?
They ask how I knew her, and I said “I heard her silent screams.”

They look at me with confusion and hurt in their eyes,
I lay down some flowers and tell her goodbye
Her Silent screams were silenced on this sad day
I heard another Silent screams and sadly walk away.
