Night.

Black.
The sky was so black and empty.
The cold air chilled us to the bone under our large coats.
But we didn't care.
Because the sky was not truly empty.
When we stepped out and looked to the sky, it revealed diamonds.
Bright, glimmering, gleaming, shining white diamonds hidden in the dark sky.
We had escaped all lights, all cars, all houses, and all people.
It was there that all of the stars were truly revealed.
And suddenly, and finally, the sky became streaked with lines of glittery dust.

Everything was completely silent.
There were no sounds of life, not even the sound of the wind blowing through the trees.
It was very sudden when the silence broke with our triumphant cheers of spotting on of the flying pixies in the sky.

We stood for hours,
Our necks bent back,
Our eyes fixated on the star speckled sky.
We felt everything and nothing at the same time.
We were there watching the stars,
But at the same moment we were stars, among other stars,
Lost in the beautiful black sky, scattered among our fellow diamonds,
As if it were truly that simple.

And it was then that I realized,
I finally knew how it felt to be infinite too.
