Love Is What Love Does.

We sit out over the balcony, watching the clouds roll on...
Everyone is out living, on the eve of Senior Prom.
And here I am, with her, hair drifting in the wind...
Getting lost in the luscious eyes of my long-life friend.

It started when the call came, to her answering machine.
Then I received one of my own, bad news as it seemed...
She told me through tears, that she was tired and done...
Her boyfriend was out with another, indulging in his fun.

And so she asked me to spend the night, but I quickly refused,
"I have a last assignment that's way past due."
She replied, "That's fine, I'll just head to your place."
Before I could respond, the phone clicked out in my face.

She came ten minutes later, her car humming outside.
It was around 8:30, and my parents left for a drive...
I had just finished working, and my eyes were a mess...
They were revived once again, in a breathtaking, blue dress.

Obviously, she had taken much time to prepare,
So I couldn't help but stand there and stare...
Rose had never looked this beautiful, even crossing such a word...
Her glasses were removed, and she was anything but a nerd.

We made way to the back, after fixing up lemonade,
Then mixed it with a shot of my father's chardonnay.
We figured, why not? This is the end of our years...
Let's make the most of it, forget about the shed tears.

A toast to being friends, went up into the sky.
Clouds faded to stars, while we drifted gently by...
After counting the stars on end, her hands fell upon mine...
Our lips crept slow and pressed, frozen forever in time.

She wanted this, and so did I, carrying her onto the bed...
Her clothes melted to the floor, merging with mine own over ripped shreds.
I closed the window, knocking shut, trapping out the noisy wind...
I will always remember that silent night, when I made love to my only friend.
