In her eyes

I look into her eyes.
I have to turn away.
Eyes filled with emotions of many kinds
But I left her there to decay.

Her small sobs are burned into my mind
I see her in my dreams.
Dreams of leaving her behind
But I hide them so they are unseen.

I see her every night.
I see her when I awake.
She stands next to me in the sunlight.
She’s in the reflection in the lake.

I put my foot down
Now I’m looking back.
I see a smile not a frown.
I see color… not black.

She has nothing to say.
She looks at me one last time
Then turns and walks way.
Her reflection is mine.
