This uncertainty

There’s something different in the world from when I was young,
To when I was born till this life begun.
It’s a certain feeling that no one quite knows-
A feeling that none understand - yet it grows.
It’s an uncertainty that drives you mad; but also holds hope hand in hand.
I feel this feeling when I turn on the news,
An uncertainty about the world
And what we shall do.
I feel it when I look back in time - at humanity’s greatness, oh how divine.
Yet it’s not so beautiful; this feeling of mine.
I wonder sometimes it’s just in my mind - but I feel it around me and in your eyes.
We all have this feeling, this feeling of doubt.
Something’s wrong I fear… will we figure it out?
They say that the world is in a better place,
Yet I can’t help this feeling that we’re loosing this race.
I feel like time is just here to linger; water slipping right through our fingers.
This uncertainty that drives us mad, is perhaps a blessing - we should be glad!
This feeling brings hope, like a small child’s smile-
It's something I hold dear.. at least for a while.
