Drowning

Gasps for precious air
Escape desperate lungs
Wailing and flailing in search
Of the shifting sand to which you had clung

Your frantic eyes find mine
Silently begging to be saved
For the world is crashing over you
As you slowly drown in it's waves

You perceive me as selfish
Slowly turning my head
Lowering my eyes obstinately
Leaving you for dead

Because though you feel you're drowning
In troubles so immensely deep
You forget this storm is what you sowed
And this fate is what you reap
