Innocence Lost

There once was a family,
And they seemed happy.
But that happiness was fake,
And fake things never last.
Slowly, the children lost their innocence,
And their family was no more.

Their mother had left,
Lost within her own mind.
But their father had not,
And they were a family again.
Slowly, that family grew sour,
As no good thing can ever last.

Their father grew bitter,
And as time went on they were alone.
But the sisters stuck together,
Promising to never leave.
Slowly, their promise crumbled,
Strangers in each others eyes.

They had no more family,
And nobody cared.
But the youngest held on,
Dreaming of a lost cause.
Slowly, her hope left her,
And her only relief was bathed in red.

Their father opened his eyes,
An saved his daughters from themselves.
But the oldest left,
Finding a better life.
Slowly, the father left one last time,
And he was not coming back.

The youngest retreated,
And stopped praying to God.
The youngest stopped crying,
Because she had gotten tired.
The youngest became cold.
She had grow up.
