Clever Things

I want to write a thousand words
That play throughout the night.
I want a song that never ends
That directs the scene just right.
I want to speak a million things
That show just how I feel.

But even if I spoke or sung,
Or spelt it in the sky
The words wouldn't be enough
To show what lies inside.

All the cliché’s and famous words
Just wouldn't feel the same
To this hopeless and romantic girl
Whose heart you set aflame

I could tell you that your eyes, so bright
Outshine the brightest day
Or since you entered into my life
I have never been the same.

While these words don’t lie or hide the truth
There’s got to be a line much better.

You’ve helped me from my darkest days
You’ve put a stop to the strongest pain
You’ve lifted me from the deepest places
I’m sure there’s even more to gain.

I’m running out of clever things
And words that have yet to be heard
Just remember that I love you,
And I’d write it in a thousand words.
