Fourteen Summers

Wish me a happy birthday,
although I'm as happy as can be.
Tomorrow is my birthday
and I'm turning fourteen.

Yes,I am very young,
but I am free.
And through the toughest times,
I had learned to be me.

Fourteen years of hard times,
pain,lies and goodbyes.
But there have also been
Happiness,freedom and light.

I am a young teen
starting to become a woman.
I will bright shinier than a pearl.
But until then,I'm only fourteen.

Say hello and happy birthday to me,
this little poet that lives happily.
It's true I have had horrible times
but I had walked even the thinnest of lines.

So,until then,I'll be just me.
This little girl,as happy as can be.
One day,I will finally be free.
But until then,I'm just Charlene
and I am just fourteen.
