Slow and Steady wins the Race

Blue ribbons tied to her wrist pulls in the wind
a faintly omen she unwillingly denies
Her cold-blooded skin and tainted purple lips scarred
a heart filled with unbreakable ties

Stay safe, always, like I know you to
a mind filled with anything but ease
Live your life among the demons,
your toxic world I beg to learn upon hands and knees

Blue ribbons tied to her strongest pulse with rivers
running hot beneath her pale skin
She leans over to fit the white lace,
but only to look and see the sadness of the world upon your face

She smiles
He waits
She laughs
He fakes

But she waited too...
Among what many may call a dark place
But he stayed for you...
Knowing his little rabbit fell asleep during the race

How could you not know she was dreaming of better days?
Perhaps she confided in you and happily she lay

Slow and steady
Good and ready
Down and dirty
Enough with flirting...
Take my hand, let's be on our way

Open your eyes, its not what it seems
Its just your imagination embedded in your dreams

Look over to see him laugh and see that grin
Its okay, you can lay back your head now,
Its the turtle who wins

Slow and steady
Cold and heavy
Bright and hazy
I've been going crazy...
But I guess you haven't the slightest idea, do you?
