World Unknown

Kills us not to know this
Falling down
Falling victim to a world that we never knew
What makes us so different?
Is not what’s so key
Though it’s all we’ve ever known
A title,
A tag,
A life left undone
A life we never chose
It’s this race without the finish line
Till the last bullet flies
There’s a greater good, a greater power

Falling down on a world that we never knew
Though worlds combined
This distance remains
These droughts bleed on
These walls, call them bluff, and they fall
The distance fights on
If they held their ground, would we ask them to change?
A hero of life, the only bringer of death
The fight of right and blood
Will the morning come soon?
In this world that we never knew
A place we could call home

Victim to a world that we never knew
Don’t hold us up
We were the ones that always kept quite
For a life that we lost
We can hold our own ground
We always did what was told
For a life that we reclaimed
Don’t need your help, don’t hold us down
Cuts that bleed on
The battle scars of a place we once knew
The victims of a judge with no mercy

Victims as we bleed these merciless words
We are the desperate, the seeking
A voice unheard, a tongue unspoken
Open the eyes of the ash of time
The clock burns with a ticking of our hearts
Who is our God?
What did we ever mean to stand for?
To accomplish?
Bombs and blood
A land so free, so safe
They tremble
Just the victims, never the enemy

This is the world we never knew
We are the victims of this world unseen
The minority, the battle fled
Swinging life away
Compare the scars and they’ll tell you
Theirs are worse
The man who gets away just fine
On these cold winters, and the ending summers
Chase these days down on a time of peace
On a time of comfort, acceptance
The story left untold only bleeding through
Then wiped away
A labor, no one will slave to the end

The battle of our innocence is long past gone
But the light remains
The coffin nails, the shotgun
In the school house halls, in the closet walls
On their knees they cry, on their feet we die
What god, what life made us part so far?
Feel the love like a cattle prod
It’s always darkest before the dawn
Push us, we’ll push back
Done asking, we demand
The shame of who we choose to kiss,
Who we follow,
Who we worship,
The blood flows from the wrist

The bullet holes, like a breath exhaled
These days are gone forever
18…17
15…15
Age 13
This life chose me, not born in sin
Born free still they hate
Born me, no I can’t change
Falling down to a world that we never knew
Falling victim to ourselves

Basically this poem is based off of some songs from Rise Against, with my own personal twist and life experiences mixed in. It's not meant to be taken lightly, and it's not meant to be a way to dictate your life, it's just to show the other side and open our eyes to a world amongst us that we have yet to know.
