This Moment

Swept up in the moment,
I close my eyes,
Take a deep breath,
And attempt to find serenity in this one moment,

The black of my eyelids,
So calm and ignorant to the world around me,
Just surounded in my new reality,
The one in my head,

I left behind my present,
All my problems,
All my goals I couldn't meet,
Everything that tries to bring me down,

I leave my mind blank,
I'm so still,
I float in emptiness,
I never want to leave,

I reopen my eyes,
Exhale as deep as I inhaled,
Focus on whats around me,
Hearing, smelling, seeing, feeling, tasting,

If only that short moment,
Lasted forever,
So I wouldn't have to deal with all this bullshit,
That has plagued my thoughts for years,

Divine serenity and calm,
Unobtainable,
Only short lived if anything,
Just like that single moment,

I left my beliefs behind,
Discarded my values,
I have no shame,
I left my head in the gutter,
And lie there helpless and frozen
