Butterfly

Flowers bloom in
the day light brings
out the soft creatures
as others hide away.

A nameless flap of
a wing, provides disaster
far away. Perched on top
of a window sill, it watches.

The sight in its compound eyes
reflect what was once whole.
The being thrashed and cries
her screams going unheard.

As if connected, it feels everything
emotional turmoil of this
little girl weighs it down
softly drifting into her crushed palm.

The butterfly makes its
way to her wrist, delicately
kissing the skin,
embedding itself there.

Salt water tears fall,
cascading down her face
in countless streams, drowning
away the colour fades.

“I’m so sorry.” She cries
quietly, putting the pen down.
“Please forgive me.” She pleads,
“I love you.”

It gasps as it feels
the cool of the metal,
pressing harder as tiny
rubies start to spill over.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t be
there for you.” It cries,
taking a last breath as
red tears fall down her wrist.

She sobs solemnly, her
last breath as golden holes
get heavy with regret, she
falls into the pool.

Her sister runs into
the room, seeing the lifeless
body, cries noticing the
Nameless butterfly laying on
her wrist. Her own throbbing.
