"How Scary Could I Possibly Be?"

"How Scary Could I Possibly Be?"
By: Anjalea Ciccio

It's been less than a week
And I'm still laying on my bed,
Wasting paper with scribbles on how
I want to get my point across to you.

The "problem", isn't the problem;
You are just one-track-minded,
Faced with tunnel vision.
Why should I even bother to try communicating?

I'm yelling at a brick wall,
Cold and rough around the edges.
There are a few cracks and chips,
But there isn't a hole deep enough to see through to the other side.

Maybe I should be a construction worker.
"Practical" jobs are overrated.
Maybe I could work in demolition.
If I tear down that brick wall, will there be another one behind it?

You are made of stone,
Formed with concrete,
But you are not cold.
You are filled with heat;
A blazing fire, hot, like lava.
Destructive, but beautiful,
You leave me awestruck.

Sometimes, I think you are a constellation.
You are scorching balls of rage,
Scattered in the trillions across the sky
Just wishing and hoping to erupt
With every awful, terrible thing
That you have built up inside of you.
I could stare up at you for hours.

How about--for a change--you listen.
Actually listen, instead of speaking.
You may learn a thing or two about witty remarks.

Maybe I should be a construction worker.
"Practical" jobs are overrated.
I could tear down this brick wall, but if I find another one waiting for me,
I'm gonna use a bigger wrecking ball.

Wait, hold on.
I'm not saying that it's all you,
But it sure as hell isn't me.
You asked me,
"How scary could I possibly be? You never want to 'talk.' "
Have you ever had a conversion with yourself?

Now I'm a construction worker
Who's specialty is knocking down walls I can't see through.
(Can we actually "talk"?)
I've got the biggest wrecking ball I could find,
I've already knocked down one brick wall.
(Can we actually "talk"?)
And when the smoke clears, I'll be ready for the next one.
The one thing I love about demolition is it's destruction.
(Have you ever had a conversion with yourself?)

"It's not that I don't want to resolve the problem, it's just that I don't want to deal with you. . ."
