The Actress

With a perfected fake smile so easily mistaken for a genuine one,
she strutted through the halls.
A queen bee to most,
a failure to herself.

She's what people want her to be,
she plays the role well.
An actress in her own life,
an Oscar worthy performance.

As the bell rings,
'cut' is shouted,
she's free to be
who she wants.

No one knows she hates herself
the lies she have created became her,
the real girl was forgotten,
stored in the box under her bed.

She gave up soccer for ballet,
friends for acquaintances,
good grades for parties.

Every morning it's the same routine,
put on her mask of lies,
smile of self hate,
and clothes just as fake.
