Here in this Home

Here it is safe, here in my arms.
Skin against skin on a moonlit path,
The coolness of the air penetrates deep,
But cannot break your embrace.
I am strong for you, I will wait.
With arms held open
Like a creaking gate.

Here it is secure, here in my gaze.
Eye locked tight, no more than a glance
The brightness of your eyes
Does not capture my yearning.
Insecurity stains my smile
But eyes create stories,
Far safer than lips.

Here it is sympathy, here in my head.
Forgiving for cuts that grazed my heart.
Apologizing for actions left undone.
I’m sorry, forgive me, do not leave with such woe!
But deep down inside, all my thought are screaming are
Don’t go, don’t go.

Here it is blazing, here in my world.
Foundations are built up
Only to be burned down.
Flames lick the side of my face,
The warmth they radiate draws me in.
Inside my ear, they whisper solemnly
Put down the dreams, put down your hope.
We’ll burn everything up, until you learn to cope.

Here it is crumbling, here in my home.
Like pastries left in the heat to perish,
Like fraying rope hanging by it’s last thread.
Everything we’ve worked for, everything I prayed for.
Keeps us here in the dark,
Allowing us to rot.

There is a mystery, there, in you.
I’ll wait and I’ll wait
For a reason to presume.
I’ll close my eyes,
I’ll let down my arms.
Tears paint what’s left of me
It’s a picture for you, a masterpiece broken,
For when you change your mind,
My door will be open.

Half of this poem is how I personally feel, the other few stanzas are about my situation My dad recently lost his job at Entertainment, and this poem kind of inspired it. My mom wrote a letter to Mr. Menards (a billionaire), about how selfish he was (he gave his employees NO warning or help for the next six months) and it will be on NBC (her letter!). So, yeah. I love you all and I love comments more than anything, please keep us and those also affected by this unexpected situation at Entertainment in your prayers. God Bless!!
