It's Too Late in the Afternoon

The walls are crumbling but the house is fairly new in fact
The windows are thin but the doors still on its hinges
The ceilings are damp in the corners but its ok because well patch them up later said the landlord to the real estate agent
The pipes are rusty but there oh so strong
The floor boards creek but no one is there to hear them
A young couple takes a look around and they see no issues here
An old couple take a look aloud but they see nothing worth staying for here
The blinds are thick with dust I tell you but you won't believe me
The roof is leaking and the boilers broken beyond repairs

Years later passers by will recoil in horror at the bordered up monstrosity
They'll wonder why no one helped before it was too late
