What is Poetry?

People ask what is Poetry? Saying what you mean, and meaning what you say. It's not about just reading a word off of a piece of paper. You love that word, you understand that word, you give meaning to that word because it's the only piece of evidence that is without bullshit in your life. Even though no one else understands it, you do. So what is poetry? Reading a word from a piece of paper, without a hope for change, just people listening to every word you say. Reading in ten times. What is poetry? Not doing it because you have to, or because someone told you, you would be great at it. Zero sugar coding going on. So what is poetry...you tell me.

I got the inspiration for this after going to my lit class today. As you can tell, our new (although not so new since it has been part of the curriculum for years now) unit is poetry. And I'm actually really excited about it. I never seem to have a reason to write, although maybe this is telling me I don't always need one.
