The Coldest Winter

Winter settles deep in her soul,
but her heart longs for spring
Worn-down willpower, a faded smile,
but in her mind she sings
She is a thinker
She is a dreamer
Her world is infinite
She needs a breather
She needs a keeper
but she will always be left to misfit

A biting wind chills her bones
She is forced to face reality
Shaking her head, she tries to cope
but she's gripped by pain and fatality

Darkness carries the season on
Ice chills a dying fawn
Greater than the pain of a splinter
She bears the pain of the coldest winter

So she rests outside, looking up to the sky
Praying for any sign of sun
Until that day, she'll be frostbitten and gray
But she'll hope until she's done

She'll smile and laugh, remembering the past
When spring had all to bring
She's scared, for her happiness may never last
Things are never as well as they seem

Darkness carries the season on
Ice chills a dying fawn
Greater than the pain of a splinter
She bears the pain of the coldest winter

Don’t be deceived, she has all to achieve
Even when her heart is left to bleed
Love, hate, a reality for her to create
She has everything, she is everything
She makes her luck, even though she is stuck
For the cold has taken her wings

Darkness carries the season on
Ice chills a dying fawn
Greater than the pain of a splinter
She bears the grief of all that is in her
So take away her mask and her sutures
And she endures the pain of the coldest winter
