Falling Together
It was so crazy how two people could fit together
How we could fall together then just stick
I never expected him to be the one
But now I’m never alone
Even when he’s not with me
Because I know his thoughts are
And I learned how wrong I was
And it’s crazy how we fell together
When in a dark time he was there
And expected nothing from me
Rather, he extended his arms and opened his ears
Held me close and listened to it all
And denied any claim that I owed him everything
And it’s crazy how we fell together
How now I can always sleep
His arms holding me safely
Or stay up if we wish
His hands tracing the mountains and valleys of my bones
An exploration of familiar ground
How we could fall together then just stick
I never expected him to be the one
But now I’m never alone
Even when he’s not with me
Because I know his thoughts are
And I learned how wrong I was
And it’s crazy how we fell together
When in a dark time he was there
And expected nothing from me
Rather, he extended his arms and opened his ears
Held me close and listened to it all
And denied any claim that I owed him everything
And it’s crazy how we fell together
How now I can always sleep
His arms holding me safely
Or stay up if we wish
His hands tracing the mountains and valleys of my bones
An exploration of familiar ground
