Those Stone Sprites

Often i want to flatten myself to the ground,
Sink into the earth and down.
I'll go until i can't see, or feel, or hear anymore,
In my sanctuary deep beneath the floor.

There, buried in the darkness i'd lay,
Willing the nothingness would take me away.
Cocooned, in the emptiness i'd finally rest alone,
Taken in by the coolness, the sprites of the stone.

No worries for the topside children,
If my heart'd just have time to harden.
I'd let go all of the messy thoughts of today,
Then i'd have nothing more i'd need to say.
