Setting Sun

She waits for the sun to rise
For the birds to sing
For the sky to clear
The morning dew to drip
For the leaves to change colour
She opens her eyes hopping for something different
Nothing has changed at all
It’s been twenty eight days since grandfather died
Still her eyes too heavy
Her chest, still too tight
The sight of her dead grandfather
The burden of her messed up life
Put full weight upon her eroding shoulders
People think the autumn leaves are pretty.
I am the only one who knows
The leaves had died and are now falling to the ground
To their winter burial
So I wait for the sun to set
For the birds to sleep
For the sky to darken
So I can sleep
Through the night
Through the day
Through forever
