Humanity

Darkness surrounds and engulfs me into its whole. Not knowing is what kills me. Not knowing what is just beyond my reach, what could grab me. To rip out my throat, stab me in the back or rape me. So many ways flash in my mind, of how a person could end my life. The attackers would have the upper hand; my blindness would leave me defenseless. My heart beat radiates through my body, pushing blood to my ears. My eyes swiftly move back and forth, searching, trying to see, but only the darkness shows its blank flat face. Globes of colour tease my vision, making me believe I’m seeing- but I’m not. The ghosts that share my darkness, brush my arms sending shivers up my spine and make me spin in wild circles. A can hear them laughing as I lose balance to free-fall into the unknown abyss. My body falls head over heels; my stomach does flip-flops as I reach out, my hands find nothing; nothing but the darkness.
