Society Hates Dreamers

At night she sobs helplessly
She loathes running in circles
Conforming with society

All these people can be scary
But really they're naive, lifeless robots
At night she cries out helplessly

The function like a factory
Machine men working with machines
Conforming with society

Why won't they all just care to see
What really truly matters in their hearts
At night she screams in agony

Repeating mistakes yet again stubbornly
Every single day oh, it's okay - all of this
Too busy conforming with society

She's dreaming times so many
Struggles to go where she longs
At night she howls in desperation
Yearning to break out - to be free

A villanelle I wrote for school. Which I failed because apparently it wasn't a good use of the structure even though I thought it really was. Oh well.
