Silently

She took the beatings silently
Too proud to make a sound
Her dark eyes glanced up warily
Wordlessly casting her pleas

Her captors, displeased
Her body was so bruised
They wanted her to cry out
Their pleasure laid in her shouts

So harshly they continued
Not giving up
But her body was broken
And so her spirit soon departed

This is where we find her today
Ruined in the BP parking lot
Bones shattered, flesh purple and black
Discovered by the teenaged smart alec

So the testimony in the court
Rises above her mother's wails
The defendents sit stoically
And the judge declares: no mercy
