Lost Gods

they told me that i needed to find god,
but surely the god they believe in
would not cower from new faith
nor run from those who search.
i did find god though, a rushed meeting,
hidden in a truck stop on the highway
i stood with him there, not long,
just until the sun began to rise,
he left then, not a goodbye said,
but i did not mourn, for i did not need him.
i do not need to find god, not your god.
i am not a prisoner of belief
nor a convict held by faith,
i am free and wide awake
i see everything
and i do not see god.
