Rock and Roll Angel (the Devil Will Take Your Tongue)

An empathy smothers my soul
A symphony of lovers consoles
But you try to hide, how fickle your lies
I die, with your knife inside

But rock and roll angel, won’t you sing me a song
And we’ll live forever, and the curse is undone
But rock and roll angel don’t you do me a wrong
Or Rock and roll angel, the devil will take your tongue

I tried to reside there beside her, but try as I might I couldn’t deny just feeling, just wielding her pain
The binder reminder, the blind old diviner designed to remind her to find her own way
And I cannot love, above my coveted other, another lover could not suit my taste
So I struggled thru, and nobody knew, the due, I imbued for a simple view, I cannot, I will not lye chaste

But rock and roll angel, won’t you sing me a song
And we’ll live forever, and the curse is undone
But rock and roll angel, don’t you do me a wrong
Or Rock and roll angel, the devil will take your tongue

But if fantasy, is just a man’s decease, my emptiness pleased, I suffer the wrath of your lust
But my tendency, to yearn endlessly, for empathy, I’m nothing, but the diamond covered in rust
So this little tune, I wrote it at noon, under an autumn moon, for the amusement of you my fair lady
But I’m just a man, I do what I can, but I cannot stand, to meet your demands, so kill me and carve out my heart now, yeah baby
But rock and roll angel, won’t you sing me a song
And we’ll live forever, and the curse is undone
But rock and roll angel, don’t you do me a wrong
Or Rock and roll angel, the devil will take your tongue

But rock and roll angel, won’t you sing me a song
And we’ll live forever, and the curse is undone
But rock and roll angel, don’t you do me a wrong
Or Rock and roll angel, the devil will take your tongue
