Hide Behind Your Colours (It's the Only Defense That You've Got)

You showed all your colours,
they were bright,
and you were beautiful,
a radiant light
gracing everything you touched.

Then you turned away
and you glowed in the darkness
with a blackheart,
until all your colours washed away
finally revealing yourself as you fade

Hide behind your colours now
it’s the only defence that you’ve got
you pushed the world aside
and now you’ve not got a lot

And I know for sure
that you try and cover up the pain,
You’ve failed now because
the only thing that remains is a darkening stain
of mixed up emotions, full of hate and anger
with a slight hint of forgiveness and a tinge of bitterness

You won’t show your weakness
until your last dying breath
So you prey on the vulnerable
proudly showing your evil streak
to all those that fear you
til’ the victims are weak

Suffocating them with your beauty
leaving your mark on them on the outside,
but inside you know you’ve died as resentment has taken over

Now all the colours are dripping away, fading fast and fusing as one
like a sea of incompleteness, not quite full but not quite gone
I look in the mirror and see the cracks,
they say we all live in democracy
but truth be told, none of us will ever be free

Free from this life you have spun
with the web you made of lies
trapping the innocent like flies.
