Come Find Me

Come Find Me
Everyday people die,
Solely for this place.
Sadly my friends still don’t get why,
They would take that case.
They just don’t get it,
What we’re fighting for.
They think we’re digging our pit,
And that we don’t know what’s in store.
The red, white, and blue,
Stand for this country,
They don’t understand that we stand for it, too.
Have you ever heard of a land being taken?
Asked my sister Tess,
To my friend Paigten.
She said yes,
But some land is bought.
Tess was quiet for a minute,
For she was in a moment of thought.
None of my family, said Paigten, has ever fought in a war,
Nor for our country or nation.
Then what for?
Tess asked Paigten.
Nothing, I guess then,
But why would you choose to fight?
Tess replied with this, I’ll answer that when,
I take my first flight.
For Tess is going to fly planes for the Air Force this year.
I hope she has enjoyable training courses,
And will gain nothing relating to fear.
When she flies her planes for the first time,
I hope she will gain,
Some life lessons that always turn out fine.
Some about this poem understand,
While some don’t.
Some help take a stand,
While others won’t.
Some have their flag wave high in the sky,
And some have theirs sag.
I will never get why.
This country is great
So defend it every day!
I know we all have a lot on our plates,
But can’t you help pay,
Back your country and land?
Only risking your Earthly life to protect others?
Or join a military marching band,
And write music for your sisters and brothers.
Across the borders,
And across the seas.
I hope every American everywhere listens to me.
For the bottom of the line of what I have to say,
Is even if you don’t get please do not call us dumb,
Please keep that in mind while we pay,
The cost of your freedom.
Some understand,
While some don’t.
Some help us take a stand,
While some wont.
Everyone view things in a different light.
Some see the day,
While others see night.
So while you can go on and play,
For that time will not last forever.
It ends when the country says,
We need you now, for you are clever.
When you finally understand and get it,
Come and find me please, for I’ll tell you multitudes of stories,
From past costs of freedoms that climbed out of our self-dug pits.
So when you finally understand, come find me.
