Tired Eyes

I’ve a pair of tired eyes
They’ve seen too much
And this has taken a toll on them
They see the world in lackluster light
Expecting pain around every corner

I’ve a pair of tired eyes
Nothing shocks them anymore
Everything is just there
They glance over life
Taking in the worst of the world

I’ve a pair of tired eyes
They no longer cry
For in gaining expectations
You lose emotion
And that’s perfection.

I’ve a pair of tired eyes
They long to close
And forget
But they refrain
They look out

I’ve a pair of tired eyes
They've seen too much
And not enough
