Hidden in Plain Sight

I left the modern comforts of my room this morning
To liberate myself from the daily dilemmas hanging over my head
I didn't go far, but I escaped the danger zone

I swung open the tall white gate and left my property,
Marvelling as I walked through the high thick grass that tickled my legs
The gate then was shut, and I was happily secluded in the unbothered plain

Ambling along an invisible tightrope,
I followed the trail of wind-blown cricket chirps
To a grove of ancient evergreen pines, nested by birds of all kinds

Awed beyond compare, I laid on a bed of soft grass and spongey moss
And absorbed all I could of the earth's beautiful secret garden

Idea: People have taken over so much of the earth and thoroughly trampled over the beautiful gift that is nature, that there's not much left to explore.
I'm glad for at least that little bit to savour, enjoy, and preserve for the future.
