The Valetudinarian

It fell into ruin
After decades of neglect
Dry rotted boards and rusted nails
Became the property's staple hazard

Infested with termites and consumed by mold,
The entire frame sagged and dipped
It's in danger of collapsing in on itself
An untimely death awaits, lurking in every corner

Squirrels and other creatures
That initially used it only for shelter,
Now have families who live comfortably
In the place they call home

No one knows exactly where this place is,
Who built it, what its purpose was, or who last lived there
Most call it an eyesore; though some say it is a rightful hypochondriac,
Silently screaming and feebly reaching out for help and savior
