Kiss the Scars Goodbye

He kissed the scars on her arms.
“Please stop,” he begged.
“But it’s so hard to keep myself from doing harm,”
She replied. She started crying and her breathing went ragged.

He said, “I’m in love with you and I don’t want to lose my best friend.”
He held her close and tight. Letting her know he will never let go.
She closed her eyes as tears rolled down her face. “I promise I will fend
them off.” They looked down at her arm as she promised throw
the razor away.

He got a black marker from the desk and drew a black sun
where the scars were. “Don’t try to wash this off.
When you feel the urge, draw it so it’ll be as if you won.”
She looked away and for once didn’t scoff.

She finally stopped crying and looked into his eyes.
He looked back and hugged her tight.
The sun then began to rise,
as darkness faded away into the escaping night.
