Burning Cities

The cities collapse, And fall to ruins,
Their buildings smoking,
And turning to ash.

I stand there in the rubble,
Watching all of the destruction,
As it crashes around me.

War and famine has done this,
The cries of the people don’t even matter,
Because machines and weapons of mass destruction,
Are wielded by heartless monsters.
I die inside as I see bodies scattered on the ground,
I know that their souls will forever be gone from this world,
The innocents having lost the most valuable possession, life.

Something snaps in me,
And as I take in everything,
My body shuts down,
Becoming numb,
And freezing my blood.

How could anyone do this?Take such joy in killing, And destroying? It makes no sense,
Because this is just like a nightmare,Utter nonsense brought on by consuming bad food,
Or rather consuming bad thoughts
Thoughts that tell someone killing is right,
And that destruction is fine in their book.

It’s wrong,
But nothing can be done about the lost lives.
The only thing we can do is try to prevent more lives from being lost,
We must save others from this horror.

So put on your thinking caps,
Strap your hearts on your sleeves,
And help me in this struggle between good and evil.
