Lady of the Moon

She spent her whole life learning about the stars,
learning about passion, love--about broken hearts.
Sometime ago her constellation grew
Space had erupted, the planets aligned anew.
Over and over, in this delighted fashion.
Her knowledge grew passed what you could imagine.
Once a spark from the sun caught her attention
And that is what began her great ascension.
Ashes fell around her, beneath her bare feet
Her research was done--she was now complete.
Beneath the sun, stars fell from the blue sky
This wasn't the end, she left without goodbyes.

The day she rose she became more than a woman
Became the face of the moon, night's graceful haven.

This is my first hand at sonnets in a very long time, and I tried to tell a story with the words.
