The Yearning

She spent her whole life learning about the stars
because everything that was on the ground glowed dimly in her mind
She wanted to be a star
Suspended billions of miles above the earth
Away from the pain, the anguish of trying to fit in with the crowd

She kept her eyes trained on the night sky
Hungering to be the dim ember in someone's darkness
Will anyone spend their whole life learning about her?
Curious to know what causes the glow under her skin
Wanting to know why she always had her head in the sky

She spent her whole life leaning about the stars
and when her life was over they spent their whole lives learning about her
The shooting star who lit up their lives
Because to them there was no star that shined more brightly
Then the young girl who loved the night sky
