Broken Heart Bay

I watched you drift away
into the sea, far from the bay.

I tried to call your name,
you didn't hear me all the same.
As the songs, they lured you in
they crashed your boat, you cannot swim.

Temptation rotted us away,
and drew you out of our safe bay.

Now you're drowning, I hear your cry
you didn't listen, why should I?
You tore each thread of trust
now your sign reads "bay or bust".

I watch you throw your life away
but stand firmly on this bay.

Nimrod, move your arms around.
Kick your feet, stop sinking down.
I can't save your hollow soul now.
My legs are frozen, I don't know how.

So please just stay away.
Leave me here on our bittersweet bay.

I'm watching you. You're watching me.
You're yelling "PLEASE!", but I let it be.
And sure, I might be in denial
because you still joke and I still smile.

As hard as I try, I can't keep you away.
You're a bloodhound that's always at bay.

Your arms have relearned to be strong.
As you swim, you sing me my song.
A soft kiss grazed the corner of my lips
For a moment, I expected pure bliss.

But that passion went away
the second that you left our bay.

Oh, the paralyzing guilt,
the heart inside me seems to wilt.
But if I can remember to forget,
surely I'll have nothing to regret.

Out of my mind I can drive you away
if you steer clear of me and my bay.

You're lost inside huge clouds of smoke,
and every bottle you've drank you've broke.
If you detest what you use for crutches,
why give in to such sinister touches?

The life has gone away
from the boy once on this bay.

If it was truly forgiveness you sought,
You'd have admitted when you were caught.
My life have gone on, yours will too.
Even though I can't come back to you.

I scrape myself up and run far away,
leaving behind me that broken heart bay.
